About Penang

Penang is a Malaysian state off the Peninsular Malaysia's northwest coast, separated from the mainland by the Malacca Strait. It is divided into two parts: Penang Island, which is home to Georgetown, the capital, and Seberang Perai, which is located on the Malay Peninsula. The Penang Bridge and the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge, Malaysia's two largest road bridges, connect them. This virgin wonderland, designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2008, is rich in cultural sights and natural splendour.

Often known as the Pearl of the Orient, Penang is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and as Malaysia's cuisine capital. The sandy beaches of Tanjung Bungah, the view from the peak of Penang Hill, and the snakes in the Snake Temple are just a few of Penang's most interesting sights.

Among the places worthy of visit are Penang's many flea markets, night markets, KOMTAR, and modern retail malls, as well as Georgetown's quaint nooks and crannies. Batu Feringghi hosts many beautiful beaches for you to swim in, sunbathe, or enjoy many water activities present.
